Preparation for becoming one

manuelacastellanos

We are 3 weeks away from our fourth Youth Convention. It will be a 4 day event where we will meet with more than ten thousand youth to search God and grow as leaders, and disciples of Jesus. This year in our church we have seen a new generation born in the ministry that has risen up. The average age of the youth is between 14 and 23 years old.

Something that marked our meetings has been how they have been given messages, in a fresh and innovative way. In three months we have grown from 4 thousand youth to over 8 thousand. We had great miracle catch on July 3rd, where more than 5 thousand young people accept Jesus in to their hearts and for the first time as a youth ministry we filled the whole auditorium of  MCI church with a capacity for 12 thousand people. That day, Pastor Cesar Castellanos gave a special message for all the youth and then told me that it had been several years  that he had not experienced a meeting where thousands of young people were so open to receive the word of God.

I know that our generation needs to hear the message of the cross and the message of Jesus. But this message can not be given in a legalistic or traditional way. The church is the image of Christ, so it is our responsibility as a church to represent Jesus in the best way possible. This is what we have determined as a church. This determination has demanded effort, to go out of our comfort zone, demanding more prayer and a excellent organization.

I can summarize the success of a big event or a large convention depending on the next factors.

1. Organization. We all heard that excellence is in those small details. With the  production team, we sat down to look minute by minute what will happen at the meeting. After, we place the responsibility for the tasks.

2. Teamwork. In the word it says, that in the multitude of counselors there is wisdom. We can not make something great alone, we need a team, we need each other.

3. Hard work. We propose that what we say becomes reality. Take over the responsibility and be ready to work!

We hope that everyone comes to our Youth Convention: We Are One 2010 in Bogotá, Colombia. All the youth unified as one to ignite our passion for God, developing our creativity in the ministry.
